Joey Sampaga

Chaplain Joey 250Px

Chaplain

Chaplain Joey joined the Christian Care Fellowship Square team in 2025. Born in the Philippines, he moved to the States at six months old and grew up as an Army brat. This military upbringing meant living in many places, including Florida, North Carolina, Hawaii, Kentucky, the Philippines, and California, before he eventually planted his roots in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1993. His heritage and upbringing deeply shaped his values, his strong sense of community, and his biblical worldview.

Before discovering his calling to pastoral ministry and spiritual care, Joey earned a degree in Computer Electronics and gained diverse professional experience in the corporate and real estate sectors. He was, and still is, an entrepreneur who has owned a couple of online businesses.

Driven by a profound calling to serve God, Joey graduated from Gateway Seminary with a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) in 2017. He brings a wealth of spiritual leadership experience to his role, having served as a pastor and recently celebrating over a decade of ministry with East Valley International Church. His clinical practice includes dedicated spiritual care at healthcare community organizations such as Dignity Health (St. Joseph's Hospital Medical Center).

As Chaplain, Joey is deeply passionate about addressing social issues and practicing active, empathetic compassion for the vulnerable. His own life experiences, including navigating the profound loss of his parents, have instilled in him a unique empathy and a deep understanding of walking alongside others in their times of need. His faith remains the absolute cornerstone of his life and the driving force behind his desire to care for others.

Outside of his ministry, Joey enjoys a vibrant, active lifestyle. He and his wife, Heather, who married in 2006, love spending time with their beloved dog, whether they are relaxing at home or embarking on road trips. In his free time, Joey can often be found overlanding, camping, mountain biking, or cruising on his Indian motorcycle.
