Dementia-Supportive Memory Care in Our Historic Mesa Senior Community

We have created a home-like setting for our Memory Care residents with a cozy dining/kitchen area and comfortable seating alcove for visiting, viewing movies or other entertainment. When the weather is nice, residents enjoy our secure outdoor courtyard with a sensory garden, an intriguing mural and a peaceful running fountain. See our memory garden video for yourself.

Memory care residents can retire to their bedrooms when they need a break or are feeling sleepy. Families are encouraged to decorate the bedroom area with items that will bring comfort such as a favorite chair, quilt or pillow, books or family photographs. Bedrooms may be shared or private, and each includes a private bathroom with toilet and sink. Bathing facilities are in our spa as we want residents to be completely safe and assisted when showering.

Our Memory Care spa includes two large shower bays, fully equipped with seats and assistive devices to provide a comfortable experience. Staff are very compassionate and take care to protect each resident’s dignity while bathing, grooming and dressing so they feel refreshed. For residents who need a haircut, style, manicure or pedicure, we have an independently operated salon right outside of Memory Care and just down the hall in our Assisted Living community. Residents will be escorted for these visits.

Is My Loved One Ready for a Memory Care Community?

Many residents do fine with early stage dementia in Assisted Living. However, when they begin forgetting to take care of their hygiene or to eat regularly, or if they become at risk of wandering, that is the time when memory care is needed. Our online assessment tool can help families decide what level of care is most appropriate for their loved one.

Why Families Choose Fellowship Square Historic Mesa

We know what a difficult decision it is to entrust the care of your loved one with dementia to someone else. With a variety of care options available, it can be even harder to feel confident that you are making the right choice. Christian Care Companies is a non-profit organization that has been serving families in Arizona since 1979. Our commitment to excellent and compassionate care is unwavering. For guidance during this difficult decision, we’ve put together helpful information for family caregivers.

Families who choose Fellowship Square Historic Mesa often share how deeply our care has impacted their lives.

“When I moved my mom into Memory Care at Fellowship Square Historic Mesa, I was pretty nervous. My mom was living in another Memory Care living community for almost two years and we expected the change to be difficult for all of us. From the moment we started the tour, through the move in process and continuing today, the staff and care team at Fellowship Square have been amazing. I felt they went the extra mile to assure the move in and my mom’s transition went as smooth as possible.

The care team in Memory Care continues to go out of their way to make sure my mom’s transition has gone well. They are attentive to her needs and communicate regularly with me about my mom’s preferences and daily routine. I feel welcomed when I visit and am encouraged to participate with my mom in the activities, dining or just visit with her somewhere in the community.

Most importantly, my mom is very comfortable. She communicates to me, unsolicited, that the care team is very friendly and takes good care of her. Based on my observations and interaction with the care team, I agree. I have seen first hand how the care team demonstrates genuine care to ensure the physical, personal and emotional well-being of all the residents. I feel blessed to have found this new home for my mother." Maria

Memory Care Amenities

Housekeeping

Bedding is changed/laundered each week, and more often as needed. Trash is emptied daily and a full cleaning of the apartment is done each week, with spot cleaning as needed.

Dining

Three meals plus two snacks are prepared daily under the supervision of our Chef, Michael Kohley. The meals are created in our Assisted Living kitchen and transported down the hall to our Memory Care community. If a resident is sleeping then, we have a refrigerator and stove/microwave so that they can receive a hot meal or snack when they are awake, no matter the time.

Spiritual support

Our full time Chaplain, Kurt Stromberg, offers Sunday worship service each week in our Memory Care community for those residents to whom faith is important. In addition, the nearby Catholic church provides communion each Friday for residents of the Catholic faith.
