Assisted Living Tucson
What is Assisted Living?
Assisted Living offers a higher level of care than what is available at independent living communities. The National Institute on Aging says, “Assisted living is for people who need help with daily care, but not as much help as a nursing home provides.” For example, individuals may need help with things like dressing, bathing, taking their medicines, and cleaning. But they do not need the attentive medical care that a nursing home provides. That means assisted living allows residents to live more independently.
Generally, assisted living residents have their own apartment along with access to many services. At Fellowship Square Tucson, our assisted living facility is called The Oasis; it provides three meals a day in a full-service dining room and certified caregivers on staff 24 hours a day. Each resident wears an emergency call button which, when activated, alerts the caregivers that the resident needs help.
Choosing an Assisted Living Community
When looking for a senior living community for yourself or a loved one, there are many options including assisted living. How do you know what’s best? We suggest starting by asking a few questions to help identify what’s important to the person making the move.
- What services do you need?
- Where do you want to live?
- Do you want to be near family and friends?
- What amenities and activities do you want?
- What is your budget?
For some, this can seem overwhelming. But our friendly staff and certified caregivers are always happy to answer any questions and give you the guidance you need to find what’s best for you.
When is the right time to make the move?
Choosing to move to an assisted living community and finding the right one can take time. So it's a good idea to start your research as soon as possible. It may even help to begin looking well before you need to make the transition. Do research online, make phone calls, and arrange a safe in-person tour of your top picks.
Even though the assisted living community might be the best decision for everyone involved, many people find it difficult to talk about and simply opt to not address it. That’s understandable, but putting it off can make it that much harder later. It’s a complex situation that many people need help with, as well as time to adjust to the idea of having to ask for help.
There are some clear signs that might indicate it’s time to make the move to assisted living. Elaine K. Howley for U.S. News and World Report says signs may include:
- A worsening of medical conditions
- An increased number of falls and overall increased frailty
- Difficulty managing domestic finances or other money problems
- Difficulty keeping the house clean
- A decline in ability to care for oneself
- Depression or social isolation.
For the senior making the transition, and the family, this can be an emotional time. To help facilitate the conversation, consider talking to the family doctor, financial advisor or attorney for professional insights, suggestions and anecdotes of how others prepared for and handled the move.

Since becoming a resident four years ago, Fellowship Square has met my physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs beautifully. I enjoy participating in supervised fitness activities, discussion groups and long-distance field trips sponsored by Fellowship Square.
Fellowship Square has good food, helpful and friendly staff, swimming pools, outings, transportation, exercises, companionship and security. What’s not to like? There are no strangers here, only friends that you haven’t met yet!
Fellowship Square is a wonderful place to live. The amenities here are so great. The food is the best in the world. We chose the best place in Tucson to live and being a Christian Care community is so wonderful too.
Fellowship Square is resort style living without the resort style prices. I live in a safe and secure environment that gives me the freedom to be & to do whatever I choose whenever I choose to do it.
The courtyard setting of each villa gives me a sense of peace and tranquility where I can visit with my neighbors, take a leisurely walk, have a swim, practice my putting or just enjoy being out in nature.
I am in my 7th year as a Resident. I have a spacious, comfortable apartment; (why, my bedroom is 20 feet long with a huge Walk-in closet! Largest bedroom I ever had.) I have been treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. And, the food is delicious. Why would I live any place else?
